HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Presidential Paddle

President Barack Obama put Congress on notice Monday while swinging a very large stick — a hurley stick to be exact.

The hurley, for those who may not know, looks like a giant wooden paddle and is used to play Hurling, an ancient Gaelic sport that was the precursor to golf.
   
According to the White House pool report, the president grabbed the stick as if it was a baseball bat and quipped to reporters, “If Members of Congress aren’t behaving, give ’em a little paddle, a little hurl.”

The stick was a presented to the president by Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny during his trip this week to Ireland.
