HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Planet’s Coolest Mom

Nancy Reagan was on “Diff’rent Strokes.” Michelle Obama will be on “iCarly.” Plus ça change.

The first lady will be a guest star on “iCarly,” the popular Nickelodeon tween show that my editor knows way too much about. The show taped Monday, and Obama promised to break legs like Joe Pesci.

OK, she didn’t, but while speaking Monday at the Joining Forces entertainment guild event in Los Angeles, the first lady was asked by the very excited panel moderator, J.J. Abrams, about her cameo on the show.

“I apologize for this in advance,” Abrams said. “Mrs. Obama, what’s happening on the set of ‘iCarly’ today?”

“Oh, yeah. Well, let’s say I’m the coolest mom on the face of the planet.” she said. “Can you believe we have friends of my children who don’t believe that I’m going to be on ‘iCarly’? But I was like, look, I stayed in Buckingham Palace. Why is it such a huge leap that I would [be on ‘iCarly’] — they don’t believe that.”

Oh, kids. They do say the darnedest things, don’t they?

It seems the first family members are big fans of the show — big enough fans that Obama fessed up to a bit of stage fright.

“I’m going to put on my acting cape. I’ve been memorizing my lines — I am terrified,” she admitted. “I can give a speech, I can talk to you all, but oh, I’m shaking, yes.” Abrams then told her to break a leg, and she promised to because she’s hard-core (see “Goodfellas”).

Joining Forces is a national initiative to support military families started by the first lady and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joseph Biden.
