Pat Mica, the wife of Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), commissioned the perfume “La Florida” for the First Lady’s Luncheon back in May, the Florida Times-Union reports.

Ooh la la!

So, what does it smell like? Well, dahlings, it smells like Florida, according to its creator’s website. And apparently Florida has a “heady aroma of orange blossoms, jasmine and sea breezes.” The state’s unique smell “has long captured the hearts of Florida visitors and inspired their return.” (See many MTV Spring Break celebrations.)

La Florida “opens with lively exotic notes of sweet island passion fruit and cool citrus orange, infused with sugared mango and a touch of luminous peach embraced by shimmering palm leaf.” (Ahh, yes, the scent of shimmery.)

It is then all “jasmine and orange flower freshened with breezy ozone.” (Breezy ozone: The fun new euphemism for holey ozone layer.) Then the “soft notes of dune grass form the heart complimented at the base by salted driftwood and pure aquatic amber over white musk.”

“Designing a fragrance for the first lady was indeed an honor,” says Janet Westling, the perfume’s creator. It certainly sounds divine.

Mica also applied for a patent for the perfume.
