Heard on the Hill: Take Five!

Every week, HOH gets to know a Member of Congress better through a series of five fun questions. This week, we sat down with Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) to talk “Blazing Saddles” and summer cocktails.

Q: What’s your favorite movie? And what’s your favorite line?
A: “Blazing Saddles.” I loved Mel Brooks. Every scene in that movie is a classic. It points out racism, points out prejudice, a lot of fallacies. A lot of lines in it are so perfect. “You’d do it for Randolph Scott!”

Q: Do you have a favorite drink?
A: A Pimm’s Cup cocktail. It’s English summer liqueur, a gin-based fruit liqueur. It’s a summertime cocktail.

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
A: My father, President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.

Q: Who’s your best friend in Congress?
A: Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.)

Q: If you could have any job other than being a Congressman, what would it be?
A: I’d be the commissioner of the NBA. I absolutely, totally love sports, and I would do everything I could to rig the whole thing to help Memphis win the championship.
