Trivedi Wants Rematch Against Gerlach
Veteran Manan Trivedi (D) announced this week that he’ll try a second time to defeat Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-Pa.).
Trivedi, a physician, lost to Gerlach by 14 points last year in southeastern Pennsylvania’s 6th district.
“I’m running for Congress because I think there’s a lot of important issues that need to be addressed out there, such as the economy and improving Medicare, and getting jobs into Pennsylvania and the rest of the country,” Trivedi told Roll Call in a phone interview.
Gerlach’s district has been considered competitive; Barack Obama won it with 58 percent of the vote in the 2008 presidential election. But that could change after the state’s Congressional map is redrawn next year. The GOP-controlled Legislature is likely to shore up Republican voters in Gerlach’s district.
