Heard on the Hill: Love and Basketball

This week in Congressional wedding news has us in North Carolina, where Democratic Rep. G.K. Butterfield’s daughter, Valeisha, married Indiana Pacers basketball star Dahntay Jones in the Duke University Chapel last weekend.

Valeisha Butterfield is the co-founder and chairwoman of the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network. This is not her first high-profile relationship. In 2006, she was engaged to rapper the Game. They ended their engagement the same year.

That’s all in the past, though.

According to the website YBF, or Young, Black, and Fabulous, the bride tweeted: “I’m officially Mrs. Dahntay L. Jones. God is a wonderful God.”

The website also reported that her close friend, Emily Bustamante (from the VH1 reality show “Love and Hip Hop”), was at the wedding. Bustamante’s son, Johan, served as ring bearer. Bustamante tweeted a picture of her son’s Gucci-heavy wardrobe while she was packing for the weekend.

“Today is the day @Valeisha! So happy for you! #loveisintheair,” Bustamante tweeted to her best friend.

(Fun fact: Bustamante is dating rapper Fabolous, who also dresses in Gucci.)
