EMILY’s List Endorses Kate Marshall

EMILY’s List threw its full weight behind Kate Marshall (D) on Tuesday in the special election for Nevada’s 2nd district.

The organization, which helps elect Democratic women who support abortion rights, moved Marshall from its “On the List” designation to a full recommendation for its members. “On the List” is used to simply alert donors to promising candidates early in the cycle, and the move to a full endorsement means Marshall will now benefit from active fundraising and bundling from EMILY’s List.

Marshall, who is the state treasurer, will face former state GOP Chairman Mark Amodei in the Sept. 13 special election to replace appointed Sen. Dean Heller (R).

“In this competitive election, Kate is the only candidate looking out for women and families in Nevada,” EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock said in a statement. “She’ll fight against the Republican war on women in Washington and bring some much-needed common sense to the House of Representatives. EMILY’s List is proud to support Kate Marshall for Congress.”

The women’s organization raised nearly $39 million last cycle to recruit and support candidates, as well as to mobilize female voters. It has more than 900,000 members nationwide and is one of the largest political action committees in the country.
