Heard on the Hill: Take Five!
Every week, HOH gets to know a Member of Congress better through a series of five fun questions. This week, we sat down with Rep. Tim Griffin (R-Ark.) and found out about his wife’s best recipe, his collection of books and the job he had while at grad school in England.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
A: To transport myself to different places quickly so I could always cut out the travel time. Teleporting, flying, a Superman-type deal, that’d get you there pretty fast. And then I could run home and see my kids. I could go down and have lunch with my kids in Arkansas and then be back here for votes.
Q: What’s your favorite dessert?
A: Peach cobbler. My wife makes a great everything. It’s not my favorite food, but my wife makes incredible tacos — beef, hard-shell, ground beef tacos. My 4-year-old loves it.
Q: What’s your favorite kids’ movie?
A: I was watching “Bee Movie” the other day, but that’s not my favorite. My current favorite would be “Gnomeo and Juliet.” My kids loved it, absolutely loved it.
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: I ride motorcycles. I run — I don’t like it, but I do. I like to travel with my family. I collect books. I’ve got probably 1,000 books. I have a library. In my new house I built a room where every wall is shelves.
Q: What’s your favorite book?
A: Anything C.S. Lewis. I have probably about 30 books that are C.S. Lewis or related to C.S. Lewis. I studied him in college. I worked in a pub where he used to hang out with J.R.R. Tolkien. It’s called the Eagle and Child, in Oxford.
