Heard on the Hill: Back in the Twilight Zone With Robinson
Perennial candidate Vernon Robinson shocked — shocked! — the crowd gathered for a Republican meeting in Cabarrus County, N.C., on Thursday night when he declared that he will run for Congress, um, again.
Robinson, who lost to Rep. Virginia Foxx (R) in 2004, made headlines during the campaign for his outrageous ads, including one in the style of the old “Twilight Zone” series.
“Americans are under attack from Islamic extremists in every corner of the world,” the ad says in an understated tone. “Homosexuals are mocking holy matrimony and the lesbians and feminists are attacking everything sacred.” Totally subtle, sir.
And now he’s back! (Thank goodness!) And in an entirely different district! From the one he had already declared he would be running in!
That is correct: Robinson was already running in North Carolina’s 13th district primary against Republican Nathan Tabor and now he will be running in the 8th district primary against Republican candidate Scott Keadle? Fun!
