NRCC Hits Kate Marshall on Economy in Nevada Special (VIDEO)

The National Republican Congressional Committee is running another TV ad in Nevada’s 2nd district on behalf of Republican Mark Amodei.

Continuing a running theme in the special election campaign, the NRCC pegs Amodei’s Democratic opponent, state Treasurer Kate Marshall, with responsibility for the state’s economic woes.

“Under Marshall the state’s credit rating was downgraded twice,” the ad’s announcer says. “The foreclosure rate rose 240 percent, unemployment is the highest in the country. You can’t afford Democrat Kate Marshall in Congress.”

The ad, which includes clips of Marshall touting her record in office, is one of several the committee has aired as it looks to hold the former House seat of appointed Sen. Dean Heller (R). The NRCC has now spent $528,000 in independent expenditures on the ad campaign, according to the latest filings with the Federal Election Commission. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has so far opted not to spend on the race.

Amodei is favored because of the Republican tilt of the district. But Republicans are taking no chances, as public polling has been inconsistent and turnout is a big question mark.
