Heard on the Hill: Roll Call Stork Update

Usually, HOH is only fixated on Hill folks doing stuff, but today we celebrate Roll Call’s own prodigious output of the past few months.

Our amazing copy chief, Emily Ortman, welcomed her first child at 4:20 a.m. Friday. Weighing in at 6 lbs., 7 oz., Eric James Stark has kept both mom and dad awake ever since.

The couple is “completely sleep-deprived,” new dad Joe Stark tells HOH. “He only sleeps if he’s being held by one of us.”

According to his pop, the smallest Stark does three things: eat, sleep and cry.

“He eats a lot,” we’re told.

Mom is doing great, perhaps because Ortman is “a little less sleep-deprived,” in dad’s opinion.

Another new HOH baby came at the end of the summer.

Liliana Rose Beckwith is the first child of HOH and Roll Call Features Editor Ryan Teague Beckwith and his wife, Alison.

She was born at 1:03 a.m. on Aug. 26, goes to bed with her teddy bear, Irene, and has kept her parents up ever since.

And earlier this summer, on Aug. 6, Roll Call lobbying reporter Kate Ackley and CQ reporter Shawn Zeller welcomed their second child. Luke Zeller made his appearance at a whopping 9 lbs., 2 oz.
