Ex-Martin Frost Aide Pursuing Texas Seat He Helped Shape

Less than a week after federal courts adopted an interim Congressional map for Texas, state Rep. Marc Veasey (D) declared Tuesday he would run for the newly drawn 33rd district, a heavily Democratic seat around Fort Worth.

Veasey had a heavy hand in Texas mapmaking. He served on the state Legislature’s redistricting committee and publicly argued for the creation of a new majority-minority district in federal court.

Veasey previously served as an aide to former Rep. Martin Frost (D-Texas), who will support his House bid.
