Christie Vilsack to Post $400,000 4th-Quarter Haul

Former Iowa first Lady Christie Vilsack (D) posted another blockbuster fundraising quarter to close out 2011, raising $400,000 in the final three months of the year for her race against Rep. Steve King (R).

In an email this afternoon, Vilsack alerted supporters that her campaign kicked off 2012 with about $750,000 in the bank.

“The support Iowans from across the state have shown my campaign is truly humbling,” Vilsack wrote.

Vilsack is waging an uphill battle in the conservative-leaning, redrawn 4th district in the northwest corner of the Hawkeye State. But she’s proved herself to be a strong fundraiser and had slightly more cash than King at the end of September.

King will not disclose his fundraising tally until he files his report on Jan. 31, one of his campaign aides said today. King reported $498,000 in cash on hand at the end of September.
