Florida Panache

The hat.
The hat.

Maybe it’s a Sunshine State thing, but we at HOH couldn’t help but be impressed by the latest example of Floridian chapeau flair.

Florida Rep. Corrine Brown (D) donned — and later removed — a bedazzled, black, biker-esque cap during last week’s marathon House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee markup. The outfit was definitely more fun than the hearing, which ended at 2:47 a.m. Friday.

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D), of course, is the standard-bearer for ever-changing, sparkling millinery. Wilson, Florida’s Imelda Marcos of the hat world, wanted to display her trademark brio on the House floor, as she did in the Florida Legislature, but ran headfirst into the hallowed rules of the House.

Keep it coming, ladies. We hear those hallowed hatters from San Francisco, the Goorin Bros., are scouting out locations in Georgetown for a shop.
