Lautenberg’s Komen-to-Carlo’s Shuffle

Think you’re having a hectic Friday?

Sen. Frank Lautenberg is scheduled to race from a formal presser at City Hall in Hoboken, N.J., where he’ll hail the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s backpedal on the Planned Parenthood defunding, to a photo op at Carlo’s Bakery, where he’ll tout a “Cake Boss” cake as his Super Bowl bet currency for Sunday’s game.

The New Jersey Democrat was one of 26 Senators who leaned on the anti-breast cancer group to reconsider cutting ties with the women’s health care services provider.

But with the New England Patriots and New York Giants set to square off this weekend, Lautenberg had to get in on the action by betting Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) on the game, putting up one of reality TV star Buddy Valastro’s now-famous confections against a Boston cream pie.

Godspeed, Senator!
