Fortenberry Ready for His Close-Up

History Channel buffs could be forgiven for frantically checking their channel guides around 9 p.m. EST to make sure they’ve not inadvertently flipped over to C-SPAN.

That’s when Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.) is expected to make his first cameo on tonight’s D.C.-centric episode of “Only in America With Larry the Cable Guy.”

Comedian Larry the Cable Guy (née Dan Whitney) devotes this installment of his “reality” travel show to poking around the nation’s capital. The show teaser touts interactions with the Pentagon, the FBI and a DC Ducks tour as the pillars of prime-time entertainment for the evening.

Fortenberry supposedly gets into the act at the beginning and end of the show, featuring scenes he and Whitney filmed at the lawmaker’s district office in Lincoln, Neb.

“I tried to be funny.  We’ll see how it goes,” Fortenberry said in a release. Whitney showered praise on his sheepish Representative, tweeting the following endorsement/marching orders:

“You were awesome Jeff!!!! Thanks. Now go get some laws repealed dad Gummit!”

Staff said the Congressman will be settling in with everyone else to watch the final cut tonight.

Here’s hoping you Got-R-Done, Congressman.
