The Massachusetts GOP is absolutely outraged with Cher and her wee political crush.

Back in January, she tweeted: “Elizabeth Warren is MY HERO ! When I hear her Speak I wish I lived in Her State ! She’s SMART & REALLY CARES !!!! PLUS Energy of a teenager.”

Then last week, Cher sang the Bay State Democratic Senate candidate’s praises on the front page of the New York Times.

“She makes an unbelievable impression,” Cher told the paper. “I’m just thrilled every time I can hear the woman speak.”

Judging from the official Massachusetts GOP reaction to the article, this was the final straw.

“Given their shared left-wing views and Hollywood elitist attitudes, it’s not surprising that Cher has fallen head over heels [in love] with Professor Warren,” Alleigh Marre, a spokeswoman for the state Republican Party, said in a statement. “Unfortunately for her campaign, Elizabeth Warren is being received far less enthusiastically by the voters of Massachusetts.”

We bet there are some GOP Cher fans who are heartbroken.
