Clooneys, Members of Congress Arrested

George Clooney and his father, Nick, have joined a long list of people arrested this morning protesting outside the Sudanese Embassy.

The Clooneys joined United to End Genocide President and ex-Rep. Tom Andrews (D-Maine), as well as Democratic Reps. Jim McGovern (Mass.), Al Green (Texas), Jim Moran (Va.) and John Olver (Mass.). Also picked up with the lawmakers and Clooneys were Martin Luther King III, NAACP President Ben Jealous and Enough Project co-founder John Prendergast, among others.

In 2001, the late Rep. Donald Payne (D-N.J.) was arrested for more then just talking outside the embassy about the atrocities inflicted by the Arab militia in Sudan. Payne was arrested after he chained himself to the embassy gates.
