New Mexico: Martin Heinrich Raises Nearly $500,000 in First Quarter
New Mexico Rep. Martin Heinrich raised $490,000 in the first quarter and had $1.6 million in cash on hand as of the end of March, his Senate campaign announced today.
This is the last quarterly report before Heinrich and state Auditor Hector Balderas face off in the June 5 Democratic primary, which Heinrich is favored to win. Balderas has yet to announce his quarterly numbers, which are due to be postmarked to the Federal Election Commission by midnight on Sunday.
According to the Heinrich campaign, 73 percent of his contributions came from within the state and 80 percent were under $200.
The winner will likely take on former Rep. Heather Wilson, who must first defeat wealthy businessman Greg Sowards in the GOP primary. They have not announced their quarterly money totals yet.
Wilson is receiving a visit Tuesday from Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who made news last week for criticizing some within her party on abortion and contraception, calling it an “attack on women.” Murkowski is the special guest for a luncheon fundraiser in Carlsbad, N.M., with a $1,000 minimum contribution for the noon event, according to an invitation.
Roll Call rates the New Mexico Senate race as a Tossup.
