UPDATED 5:50 p.m. | Rep. John Tierney (D-Mass.) announced his first-quarter fundraising figures today. He raised more than $320,000 in 2012’s first three months, which underlines his vulnerability this cycle.

That means Tierney, an eight-term Member of Congress, has been outraised by a challenger two quarters in a row.

Republican Richard Tisei pulled in $354,000 and ended March with $455,000 in cash on hand, according to Federal Election Commission filings. Tierney had just less than $800,000 in the bank, his campaign said, though exact figures weren’t yet available.

Asked how the Congressman managed to be outraised for two quarters by Tisei, campaign manager Matt Robison took a positive tone.

“I think that we’re very pleased with amount of support that Congressman Tierney has gotten from people in his district,” he said. “It’s very clear that Tierney will have the resources to run a good campaign here.”

In the fourth quarter of last year, Tisei raised $312,000 to Tierney’s $161,000, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
