South Carolina: Ted Vick Launches TV Spot in New 7th District

Democratic state Rep. Ted Vick, running for South Carolina’s new 7th district, launched a biographical spot on local television today.

Backed by a one-week, $37,330 buy in the Myrtle Beach-Florence, S.C., media market, the Vick campaign expects to have a TV presence through the June 12 primary.

The ad introduces Vick to voters in the Republican-leaning district by emphasizing the bipartisan aspects of his biography.

“South Carolina born and bred, Ted Vick was raised believing in service to others, commitment and family,” a male narrator says in the spot. “Becoming a National Guardsman, local businessman, pastor and a legislator reaching across the aisle to fight for jobs in South Carolina.”

Vick, sitting in a rocking chair on a porch, says, “In order for America to succeed, we’ve got to work together.”

In the Democratic primary against attorney Preston Brittain and other candidates, Vick is considered the favorite. He’s been endorsed by the conservative Democratic Blue Dog PAC.

If Vick ends up being the Democratic nominee, he’ll face an uphill battle. The new Myrtle Beach-anchored district is GOP-friendly turf. Roll Call rates the race as Likely Republican.
