Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) backed John Deere executive John Archer’s (R) bid to unseat Rep. Dave Loebsack (D) on Wednesday.

This marks the former presidential candidate’s second Congressional endorsement in the Hawkeye State, where he focused much of his failed presidential campaign.

“I had the pleasure of getting to know John and his wonderful family over the past year,” Santorum said in a statement. “His business background working through the regulatory and legal hurdles facing manufacturing makes him uniquely qualified to come to Washington and stop the attacks on our economy.”

Last month, Santorum backed attorney Ben Lange (R) in his second bid to unseat Rep. Bruce Braley (D).

Both districts are tough for Republicans. President Barack Obama and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) carried both seats on the national ticket in 2004 and 2008, respectively.
