DSCC Raised $2.5 Million After Supreme Court Ruling
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee had a big two days after the Supreme Court upheld the president’s health care reform law.
From last Thursday through Saturday, the DSCC raised $2.5 million. According to a DSCC statement, “On the Thursday of the ruling, the committee shattered the previous record for number of online contributions in one day.”
“There should be no misunderstanding,” DSCC Executive Director Guy Cecil said in a written statement. “The decision by a conservative Supreme Court to uphold the president’s healthcare law generated tremendous enthusiasm and financial support for our committee and our candidates. “
He added that Republicans were likely finding fundraising success on the issue as well, “but many of them know that undecided voters are ready to move on and focus on the economy and creating good paying jobs.”
And he is correct. Mitt Romney’s campaign raised $5.5 million in the days after the decision.
The Huffington Post, which first reported the DSCC news, noted that the donation money “will help Democrats shield themselves from attacks against the president’s health care law.”
