Nevada: Dean Heller Launches Ad Highlighting Shelley Berkley Ethics Issue

Nevada Sen. Dean Heller’s campaign launched a TV ad this morning highlighting the ethics investigation into his Democratic challenger, Rep. Shelley Berkley.

The Republican’s ad, first reported by the Las Vegas Sun’s Jon Ralston, was described by a source as a “moderate buy” with the potential to increase. It features the New York Times article from September that set off the inquiry by the Ethics Committee, which announced a formal investigation of Berkley on Monday. It also shows a page on the site of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which includes “Most Corrupt” stamped in red above Berkley’s picture.

Democrats argued on Tuesday that the investigation and negative headlines would not change the dynamics of the race, which make it one of the most competitive in the country. Republicans say it will damage her outreach to new voters in Washoe County, where Berkley must keep the margin close with Heller.
