Attention Chick-fil-A fans on Capitol Hill: Your drives to Crystal City to obtain those succulent, spicy chicken sandwiches might soon be a thing of the past.

Chick-fil-A spokeswoman Kristal McKanders confirmed that the recently launched Chick-fil-A food truck has Union Station on its short list of areas to visit in the District.

McKanders said she couldn’t say with certainty when the truck will make its way to the Hill but that the area’s office workers can hold out hope that the truck will dispense Georgia’s unofficial fast food of choice in the area in the near future.

“The truck likes to do the whole surprise, pop-up situation, so I don’t have a specific date the truck will be at Union Station. But I do know that’s one of the stops planned,”
McKanders said, adding that Chick-fil-A aficionados can find out the truck’s whereabouts from its Twitter feed (@chickfilamobile) at 9 a.m. each day.

HOH reached out to members of Georgia’s Congressional delegation to gauge the excitement level for the truck’s impending arrival and was surprised to learn that many offices — even ones not from Georgia — haven’t let the lack of Chick-fil-A locations in the District hamper their breaded poultry cravings.

Leslie Shedd, communications director for Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R), said that when her office does a staff lunch or event, they often head to Chick-fil-A’s Crystal City location, and the office is excited the treks out to Arlington’s concrete canyons might soon be obsolete.

“We’re not once a week, but pretty much whenever we want to do a staff lunch or staff event, we go to Chick-fil-A,” Shedd said. “So the fact that we can get it delivered instead of drive out to Crystal City is exciting.”

Laramie Adams, communications director for non-Peach Stater Rep. Frank Lucas (R-Okla.), said that when Congress isn’t in session, the staffers in the office also head to Crystal City to get their Chick-fil-A fix.

“I always think it’s a real treat to have Chick-fil-A, so it’s good news to hear they’re coming to the Hill,” Adams said.

Chris Crawford, communications director for Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), said members of their staff regularly drive to the Crystal City Chick-fil-A to pick up food for the office.

“We have not waited on the truck,” Crawford said. “We regularly drive to Crystal City to get it once every other week and sometimes go out and get it for breakfast and bring it into the office.”

Crawford added, “Anyone who is waiting on that truck is a fair-weather fan.”
