‘Parks and Recreation’ Snags Senators for Season 5

NBC’s mockumentary series about small town government has roped some big time pols into appearing in the second show of the upcoming season.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Barbara Boxer (D-Calif. ) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) will play themselves in the Sept. 27 episode of “Parks and Recreation,” titled “Ms. Knope Goes to Washington.” Cameras have been rolling in town since Thursday.

“They fed us pretty well,” Torres said, noting that the 60 or so extras were treated to crab cakes, vegetables and snacks throughout the course of the evening.

Filming continues today, with Torres predicting the NBC stars will be heading to the Washington Monument and National Mall. (We heard the Newseum is in play, too).
