Virginia: Outside Group Ad War Continues in Senate Race

The League of Conservation Voters and Majority PAC, a Democratic-aligned independent expenditure committee, have teamed up for a $1.6 million ad campaign against Republican George Allen, who is seeking his former Senate seat in Virginia.

The group’s two new ads come as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Crossroads GPS, the issue advocacy arm of GOP-aligned American Crossroads, unload on Allen’s Democratic opponent, Tim Kaine, the former governor and chairman of the Democratic National Committee. The ads targeted Kaine’s record as governor and tied him to the potential defense cuts that could severely affect jobs in Virginia.

The LCV and Majority PAC ads slam Allen for his tenure in the Senate, including votes to raise his own pay and his support for tax breaks for oil and gas companies and corporations that shipped jobs overseas.
