In the nearly empty arena early this afternoon on the final day of the Democratic National music festival, er, Convention, singer-songwriter James Taylor treated those working around the stage to an impromptu concert.

He played through his classic hits “Carolina in My Mind,” “You’ve Got a Friend” and “How Sweet It Is” twice with people filling the floor of the arena the longer he played.

At one point he gave a shoutout to the Tar Heel State. After he was done he walked down to greet fans.
