Capitol Hill Invades Thursday Night Shows
Congressional operatives should see a flood of familiar faces on KableTown NBCUniversal tonight, as a group of Senators lend some street cred to “Parks and Recreation,” while a trio of D.C. tastemakers — including one Barracks Row toque — help quickfire up “Top Chef: Seattle.”
As we reported back in July, in tonight’s episode (9:30 p.m.) of “Parks and Rec,” “Ms. Knope Goes to Washington,” Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) all get to play themselves at a very D.C. reception. (So meta; we know.)
Over on Bravo (10 p.m.), cheftestants Bart Vandaele, Daniel O’Brien and Jeffrey Jew will be fighting for D.C.’s honor during season 10 of the seminal reality cooking competition.
Vandaele presides over Belga Café, but he is working on launching a Belgian waffle and frites place in Logan Circle, B Too, in the near future. O’Brien manned the burners at POTUS favorite Equinox and lobbyist hangout Bibiana before striking out on his own with Seasonal Pantry. Jew was a local, earning a degree in hospitality management from Virginia Tech and later honing his craft at Marvin, Blackbyrd and Brixton. But he has since flown the coop, opting to personal chef his way around sunny St. Petersburg, Fla.
