Sprinkles Cupcakes Gets Into Election Spirit

In Washington, everything can carry a political message, including, of course, the ever popular cupcake.

Last week, HOH reported that the group Bankrupting America was ringing in the growing national debt by using the cupcake as a sweet message conveyor. This week, we can report that Sprinkles Cupcakes is getting into the act — albeit with a decidedly anti-partisan message.

“Sprinkles Cupcakes is launching an ambitious first-time-ever cupcake-based anti-partisanship campaign,” says Sprinkles spokeswoman Rebecca Kelley.

The campaign, cheerfully called “Pay it Forward,” began Wednesday and will run through Election Day. Here’s how it works: Members and their staff can gift a dozen cupcakes to a colleague and office free of charge. The catch? It must be for a Member and office of the opposing party.

“Members can order one dozen box with the daily flavors of their choice,” Kelley explains. “The idea was co-conceptualized by co-founders Charles and Candace Nelson in an effort to sweeten party politics as we approach the election.”

Added bonus: Sprinkles is providing election-themed boxes for all!
