Schwarzenegger Prepares to Bend Washington Ears
Traditionally politicians, get elected to office and then decide to flout the law for their own benefit.
Not Arnold Schwarzenegger.
According to the mini-documentary “Arnold’s Blueprint,” the iconic Austrian jump-started his bodybuilding career — which ultimately led to mega-movie stardom and a run as governor of California — by going AWOL from the Austrian army.
Schwarzenegger has most recently been in the news for alienating his journalist wife, Maria Shriver, and his famously connected (Kennedy) in-laws by behaving very badly. He is the father of a 14-year-old son he had with a former housekeeper and has also admitted to having an affair with actress Brigitte Nielsen around the time they filmed the "Conan" spin-off “Red Sonja.”
Or catch up with the former Mr. Olympia Tuesday night (7 p.m.; $15 per person) at the Hamilton (600 14th St. NW) during Washington Post Live’s book signing/discussion. The first person to tweet the terms #totalrecallbook and #washington at him (@Schwarzenegger) promptly at 6:30 p.m. will get to cut to the front of the line and pose for a special picture with the man himself.
For the moment, the socially liberal Republican appears content to set politics aside and return to the silver screen.
But as sci-fi junkies well know, Arnold’s greatest accomplishment is yet to come.
