DC Theatre Collective Stages Reading of ‘8’ to Support Maryland’s Question 6

DC Theatre Collective hopes a dramatized recounting of the Proposition 8 case in California will help spur Marylanders to vote in favor of Question 6, which would allow same-sex marriage in the Old Line State.

The play’s debuts in Los Angeles and New York raised more than $3 million for marriage equality initiatives across the country, and Black said he hopes future performances will “help speed that process along.”

Here in D.C., a gaggle of local actors, many openly gay and lesbian, will round out the cast. And there’s an appropriately inside-the-Beltway bonus: Chris Geidner, BuzzFeed’s crack LGBT issues and more reporter, is slated to lead a panel discussion on Maryland’s Question 6.

It all kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Silver Spring’s Round House Theatre. Ticket info at roundhousetheatre.org.
