Want to spend your Thursday night listening to Capitol Hill insiders — including journalists, Hill staffers and Members of Congress — sing bad karaoke?

Well, you’re in luck.

Karaoke in the Capital, a charity event that gathers the aforementioned group of people, begins at 7 p.m. at the Rock n Roll Hotel on H Street Northeast.

Hosted by the American Association of Political Consultants Mid-Atlantic Chapter, the third annual event benefits the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, which provides instruments to underfunded music programs.

Last year’s event featured performances by CBS’ Bob Schieffer, Fox News’ Ed Henry and CNN’s Brianna Keilar, who is an honorary host this year, among others.

Awards are handed out for those brave souls who take the stage, including gag awards such as the “You Meant Well” award and the “Host Mess Performance.”

“Each year for one night only, Democrats, Republicans, the media, special interests — and even people who could care less about politics — come together, leave their differences at the door and unite for a common purpose: to have fun, sing poorly and donate to a worthwhile cause,” according to the event’s website.

Tickets to the event are $15 each and can be purchased online.
