MSNBC Host Wants to Booze, Blubber With Boehner
Some journalists dream of peppering politicians with hardball queries. Others make a very comfortable living serving up nonconfrontational softballs.
MSNBC’s Alex Wagner just wants to plain bawl and booze it up with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).
The “NOW with Alex Wagner” host proposed a Merlot-and-tears party with Boehner last night on Conan O’Brien’s show, saying the Speaker would be her dream guest. “I just want to have him on to have some Merlot and cry,” she said.
“He cries at everything and loves red wine and smoking. This man is a politician like no other,” she told O’Brien, confessing that she cries every time she sees Boehner cry. “Something about his face crumpling,” she said, reveals “the human condition.”
At first befuddled that Boehner would get the nod from Wagner, the host eventually warmed to the idea, saying the three of them should arrange a date. “The three of us should just get together and have a lot of Merlot and just cry,” O’Brien said.
No word on whether Boehner, who was last seen welling up during the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., got all choked up about the televised invitation.
