K Street Files: Wingate Goes to MetLife; CVS’ New Lobbyist
Heather Wingate, the former head of federal government affairs at Citigroup, has joined MetLife Inc. She will lead the insurance firm’s federal government relations office in Washington, D.C.
Most recently, Wingate has been with Nomura Holding America where she focused on the implementation of the Dodd-Frank financial overhaul.
“I’m extremely pleased that Heather is joining the MetLife team,” said Steven Kandarian, the company’s chairman and CEO, in a statement. “Her extensive public and private sector experience, combined with her mastery of the legislative and regulatory process will make her a highly effective advocate for policies that promote financial security.”
Before working at Citi, Wingate was the Senate liaison for the George W. Bush administration and the top aide to then-Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.)
Making Her Mark at CVS
CVS Caremark today brought on Ann Walker-Jenkins as a director of federal government affairs. Previously, Walker-Jenkins was assistant director of federal affairs for the American Academy of Physician Assistants and held roles at the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses and the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition.
“With her strong policy background, combined with her experience in government affairs, she is well-suited to enhance and highlight our role as a company focused on improving health care,” said Larry Burton, CVS Caremark’s senior vice president of government affairs.
