Hello Kitty is Running for President with Biz Markie on the Decks
For some ridiculous reason, Hello Kitty is making a go for the White House.
“Beginning on Nov. 1, Hello Kitty is throwing her bow into the ring for President of the United States,” says Elizabeth Hebda, spokeswoman for the coupon website Living Social. “[She] is using LivingSocial’s 918 F Street as campaign headquarters. The Hello Kitty for President team will be transforming the space into a pop-up shop selling Hello Kitty merchandise from Nov. 1-6.”
Why in the name of all that is holy would the pinnacle of Japanese animated cuteness want to take on the highest office in the United States of America? It seems to us that Kitty — assuming that’s her real last name — has a pretty sweet gig right now adorning pencil cases and backpacks the world over.
“Hello Kitty’s campaign is a celebration of what she represents — fun, friendship and happiness,” Hebda insists. “And all event activities at Living Social’s 918 F Street will be infused with a similar spirit.”
918 F St. NW will be chock-a-block with activities from Nov. 1-6, including an art show, giveaways from Georgetown Cupcake and Sephora and events held in partnership with the Children’s National Medical Center and the literacy organization 826 National.
On Nov. 3, the Hello Kitty campaign is throwing a party at Living Social headquarters at, as if needs to be said now, 918 F St. NW. Biz Markie, who is just the cat’s friend, will DJ.
