Utah Couple Dubs Their Kid ‘Senator’

The constant bombardment of election ads must have brainwashed Utah parents Chris and Wendi Bench.  How else to explain their decision to dub their 4-pound, 14-ounce preemie Senator Rockwell Bench.

“I’m not really sure what influenced it … but I thought it would be a great name to give him a little bit of respect, with some room for scandal,” Wendi Bench told her local television station.

Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee has been by to see the kid, a meeting brokered by Lee’s chief of staff, Spencer Stokes, who frequents the Bench family’s bookstore.

An aide said Lee set the newborn on the right path by gifting him a U.S. flag flown over the Capitol, a pocket Constitution and a stuffed toy elephant.
