Fake Pundit, Real Likeness

Master political satirist Stephen Colbert might be mortal, but his likeness will live forever — as long as it is kept from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

A wax figure of Colbert will be unveiled Friday at Washington, D.C.’s Madame Tussauds wax museum and will take its place among other influential sculpted Americans such as Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce Knowles. Colbert, host of Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report,” founder of a super PAC and former presidential candidate in South Carolina, will be on hand for his double’s debut.

“[He] was an active participant in the creation of his wax figure,” the museum boasts in a release. “Spending hours with a team of Madame Tussauds studio artists, who joined him at his show’s New York City studio in June of this year to take more than 250 precise measurements and photographs — capturing him from every angle. Since then, our team of artists have been working diligently to ensure the figure fully captures his unique style, exact eye color, build and overall allure, including his signature raised eyebrow.”
