The latest election is barely in the rear-view, but would-be director Kenneth Bryant is already looking to influence the next trip to the voting booth via an unflinching look at our worst political ills.

Per Bryant’s Kickstarter synopsis, the prospective film, “Politician,” is envisioned as a nonpartisan examination of “the culture of corruption and deception in politics.” Bryant told HOH the documentary, which he has targeted for release in late 2014 to early 2015, marks his initial foray into feature filmmaking.

Whatever he might lack in terms of real-world experience — “I have studied film and mass media, but I’ve never worked in either field,” he openly admitted — Bryant appears to make up for with raw ambition and relentless networking.

Although his production company, Ledger Films, exists in name only, Bryant said he’s already secured “verbal agreements” from the offices of Sen. Richard J. Durbin and Rep. Danny K. Davis, both Illinois Democrats, to participate in the fledgling project. Bryant has also compiled an interview wish list featuring political heavies past and present, a roster that includes: former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas; recently defeated Sen. Scott P. Brown, R‑Mass.; retiring Rep. Barney Frank, D‑Mass.; GOP vice presidential pick Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin; perennial presidential hopeful and retiring Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas; and party leaders from both sides of the aisle in both chambers.

While the universe of political gaffes spans across the course of human existence, Bryant expects to bore down on the scandals that have rocked the halls of Congress during the past decade. The low-hanging fruit on that agenda includes: faulty intelligence used to justify the invasion of Iraq, the Justice Department’s bungled “Fast and Furious” operation, alleged insider trading by lawmakers and the contentious Wall Street bailout.

And while he’s not particularly obsessed with lewd behavior — “The sex lives of these people are their business,” he maintained — Bryant does plan to snoop around some of the more salacious sex scandals in recent memory. Ex-Rep. Gary A. Condit, D-Calif.; ex-Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla.; and ex-Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., are all on his short list.
