West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin III is none too pleased about a new MTV reality show set in his home state that’s been described as “the ‘Jersey Shore’ of Appalachia.”

The show, “Buckwild,” follows nine party animals from Sissonville, W.Va., who seek to get, well, buckwild in their small town of about 4,000 people.

Basically, it’s “Jersey Shore” with a less-tan cast that wears camouflage instead of leopard print.

After seeing previews of the show, Manchin penned a stern letter Friday to MTV President Stephen Friedman, calling for the network to “put a stop to the travesty called ‘Buckwild.’”

“As a U.S. Senator, I am repulsed at this business venture, where some Americans are making money off of the poor decisions of our youth,” Manchin wrote in the letter. “I cannot imagine that anyone who loves this country would feel proud profiting off of ‘Buckwild.’”

Some of the antics that will be shown in the show include the 20-somethings swimming in a dump truck, mud wrestling and rolling down hills inside tires.

“Our motto around here is, whatever happens, happens,” an unidentified cast member with a thick accent says in a preview of the show.

The network is set to begin airing the 12-episode series Jan. 3.
