Hey, D.C.: Staying local looks so good on you.

This holiday season hit up Capitol Hill’s art gallery The Fridge for handmade gifts crafted by local artists. Even better, the gallery, located at 516 Eighth St. SE, rear alley on Barracks Row, will split all profits with the artists themselves.
Can’t get into the store? Don’t worry about it. The Fridge has a whole boatload of presents for sale on its online store, including handcrafted skateboards by local artists and plush chimera dolls.

Assistant gallery director Emma Fisher guarantees the staff will get orders out by Christmas. If you’re in the D.C. area, she says, the staff can even drive the items to your front door.

Also for sale are the 100 stenciled-spray-painted designs that are part of the gallery’s current exhibition, “Exclamation Point.”

The show is the first solo exhibit for the gallery’s owner and director, Alex “Taxi Gang” Goldstein, whose work is heavily influenced by his years as a street artist in D.C. and New York City.
