Retiring Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., and House Judiciary ranking member John Conyers Jr., D-Mich., will be the stars of We Act Radio’s holiday fundraiser, a party designed to highlight their combined 80 years of progressive politicking on Capitol Hill.

The party is happening Tuesday at the We Act Radio studios (1918 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE), with doors for the holiday-themed gathering ($25 suggested donation ahead of time; $30 at the door) opening at 6:30 p.m. Arrive before 7 p.m. and receive a complimentary glass of wine. Conyers and Frank are expected to reflect about money and media being the “mother’s milk of politics,” according to a studio statement, at 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

Mark Levine, a former Frank and Judiciary Committee aide who moved behind the microphone in 2003 and has been hosting “Inside Scoop” ever since, said he is thrilled to welcome the fiercely liberal lawmakers to the station.

“This may be his last speech as a sitting congressman,” Levine estimated of Frank’s dwindling days in Washington. “Congress is not going to be the same without him … it’s going to be a little more drab.”

While the event will be broadcast for WAR listeners, Levine estimated attendees would be in full party mode. He promised “lots” of food and drink, some seasonal music, TV clips of his own punditry and shuttle service to and from the Anacostia Metro station.
