Twitter Fight: @PressSec Vs. @Brendan_Buck

Their bosses may not talk much, but lately White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has been mixing it up with House GOP flacks on Twitter, including a scrum today with Speaker John A. Boehner’s spokesman Brendan Buck. The pair traded each side’s latest talking points, although Carney’s two tweets — at last check — were easily outnumbered by Buck’s fusillade.

A sampling:

@PressSec: BTW @Brendan_Buck, USAT/Pew poll says Americans support POTUS’ balanced approach to deficit reduction 76-19% over GOP plan. #GOPOutOfTouch?

@Brendan_Buck: .@PressSec Oh, Jay. Was it balanced when the president got $600B in revenue with no spending cuts just last month?

@PressSec: .@Brendan_Buck. Oh, Brendan, back in real world, POTUS has signed into law > $2.5 trillion in deficit reduction, 2/3 of it spending cuts.

@Brendan_Buck: .@PressSec If the American people support approach so much, why hasn’t the Dem-run Senate ever passed it?

@Brendan_Buck: .@PressSec Nothing quite as reliable as White House accounting. How about the trillion in tax hikes in Obamacare? Interest savings?

@Brendan_Buck: .@PressSec Was Senator Reid not available for a call today or is the boss cool with the Dem Senate producing nothing on the sequester?

And finally:

@Brendan_Buck: Thank you for the followers, @PressSec.

(Carney’s followers outnumbers Buck’s followers by more than than 40 to 1).
