Freshman Rodney Davis Raises $450,000 #IL13

Freshman Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Ill., will report raising more than $450,000 during the second quarter, according to fundraising figures provided exclusively to CQ Roll Call.

Davis’ haul gives him more than $700,000 in the bank as he heads into what is expected to be one of the most competitive House contests of the cycle.

Not only is Davis facing off with former judge Ann Callis, a candidate House Democrats have touted as a top recruit, but he is also warding off a GOP primary challenge from former Miss America Erika Harold.

Harold’s primary challenge is also the first Davis will face. Last year, local GOP chairmen selected Davis as their nominee after then-Rep. Timothy V. Johnson, a Republican, announced his retirement after the primary.

In November 2012, Davis beat Democrat David Gill by less than 1 point in one of the closest contests of the cycle.

Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call rates this a Tossup/Tilt Republican contest.
