Booker’s Larger-Than-Life Fundraising #NJSEN

Booker's position in the polls has improved.
Booker's position in the polls has improved.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker will report raising $4.6 million in the second quarter, his New Jersey Senate campaign announced on Thursday.

The heavy favorite in the Garden State’s special election, Booker had $4.5 million in cash on hand as of June 30.

“Every donation is critical for taking the mayor’s message directly to voters in this unprecedented special election,” Booker campaign manager Addisu Demissie said.

Booker has already launched two statewide TV ads and is so far the only Democrat on the airwaves. The other candidates vying for the seat of the late Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg are Reps. Frank Pallone Jr. and Rush D. Holt and state Speaker Sheila Oliver.

The primary will be held Aug. 13, and the special election is Oct. 16.

The race is rated Safe Democrat by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
