A top Democratic super PAC announced Friday that it will launch a radio ad targeting Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, calling him “out of touch with Kentucky” on local airwaves.

The ad — run by Senate Majority PAC and backed by a roughly $75,000 buy – is a response to a pro-McConnell spot run by a Kentucky-based super PAC last week.

“He’s had 30 years in government. 10,000 days to make things better in Washington. But instead, it’s gotten worse,” the ad says. “With McConnell in charge, Congress has ground to a halt. Filibusters. Shutdown threats. Gridlock. Congress couldn’t even pass a farm bill. After 10,000 days, McConnell’s spent so long in Washington, he’s lost touch with Kentucky. 10,000 days of Mitch McConnell. 10,000 reasons we need a change.”

McConnell is a top Democratic target this cycle. Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, a top Democratic recruit, will to try to unseat the five-term senator. McConnell is also facing a primary challenge by wealthy businessman Matt Bevin.

The super PAC’s ad is part of a wider paid media effort from Senate Majority PAC, called “30 Years Is Too Long Campaign,” that targets McConnell.

The general-election race is currently rated Republican Favored by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
