Dem Super PAC Targets Rodney Davis in Illinois

House Majority PAC continued its campaign against House Republicans by releasing a new ad Monday targeting vulnerable Rep. Rodney Davis in Illinois’ 13th District.

The ad will air on cable and broadcast stations in Champaign, Ill., according to the Democratic super PAC. The cable portion of the buy is at least $11,000, but House Majority PAC declined to comment on the entire size.

“Rodney Davis and tea party Republicans recklessly shut down the government, threatening our economy, throwing a tantrum just to score political points,” says the 35-second ad, which features a crying baby. “Republicans are even threatening a government default of they don’t get their way. Tell congressman Davis, ‘No more tantrums.'”

Davis, who was elected in 2012 by one of the closest margins in the country, faces a similarly competitive election in 2014. He faces a primary from former Miss America Erika Harold, and the GOP nominee will likely take on former Judge Ann Callis, a top Democratic recruit.

President Barack Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney each received 49 percent of the vote in the district in 2012.

Illinois’ 13th District is rated a Tossup/Tilt Republican contest by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
