Poll: Booker Up 14 Going Into New Jersey Special Election
Newark Mayor Cory Booker continues to lead his Republican opponent by double digits with just one day to go in the New Jersey Senate special election.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday morning found Booker ahead of Republican Steve Lonegan, 54 percent to 40 percent. The margin is nearly identical to a week ago, when Booker led by 12 points.
“It’s a New Jersey habit electing Democrats to the Senate,” Quinnipiac polling director Maurice Carroll said in a statement.
Booker and Lonegan are competing in the Oct. 16 special to fill the seat of the late Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg. The race is rated Safe Democrat by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
The poll of 1,696 likely voters was conducted Oct. 10-14. The margin of error was 2.4 points.
