David Jolly Goes on the Air in Florida Special (Updated)

Updated 3:52 p.m. | Lobbyist David Jolly put up his first television ad Thursday.

It’s worth at least around $5,800 in cable advertising, according to a GOP media buyer who is not involved in the race. The Jolly campaign did not immediately reply to an email request for the buy size.

Jolly is facing off against state Rep. Kathleen Peters in the Republican primary to succeed the late Republican Rep. C.W. Bill Young in Florida’s 13th District.

The spot features local endorsers, including Young’s widow, Beverly, and describes Jolly as “a conservative in the tradition of Bill Young,”

The ad was first reported by The Tampa Bay Times.

Although the primary is Jan. 14, mail-in ballots are already out to overseas and absentee military voters. The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections is set to mail ballots to local voters on Dec. 10.

The general election against likely Democratic nominee Alex Sink is on March 11. Young passed away in October.

A Jolly spokeperson declined to comment on the ad buy.
