Democratic Super PAC Defends Nick Rahall (Updated)
Updated Dec. 11, 8:12 a.m. | House Majority PAC, a Democratic super PAC, is up with a significant television ad campaign to defend Rep. Nick J. Rahall II in West Virginia.
The positive spot touts his support for the coal industry. House Majority PAC put $150,000 behind the 10-day reservation:

Republicans have flogged Rahall on coal on the 3rd District airwaves since the spring. Media buying sources say that groups hoping to oust Rahall have spent $600,000 this cycle so far — much of which was unloaded in the last month.
The House Majority PAC ad also touts a 2012 endorsement from the “local Chamber of Commerce.”
That’s not the case at the national level. As recently as last week, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent about $200,000 in online and television advertising on behalf of Rahall’s GOP opponent, state Sen. Evan Jenkins.
The race is rated Democrat Favored by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
Update Dec. 10, 9:30 a.m.
The National Republican Congressional Committee is on district airwaves as well with a small radio ad buy.
House Republicans spent $15,000 on a radio ad that attacks Rahall on President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul:

Updated Dec. 11, 8:12 a.m. | The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce is calling on House Majority PAC to take down the ad. This issue is the local chamber endorsement line.
In the ad’s graphics, the source is a 2012 endorsement from the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2012. The state chamber argues that because the endorsement is not current for this cycle, the ad is “misleading” and “trickery.”
